Look, we love a stiff cocktail as much as the next gal, but sometimes you just don’t want to start your week off boozy. For our first Mocktail Monday, we’re featuring a pomegranate-spiked punch designed by Orlando Carreira, the lead mixologist at Toronto’s Brassaii lounge.
Orlando just kinda threw this together at an Iron Chef-style black box challenge put on by Pom Wonderful. Talk about grace under pressure. We were so into it, we asked for the recipe. Here’s what we got:
1/2 oz lime juice
1/2 oz simple syrup
1 tsp pom wonderful pomegranate seeds
1/4 oz blood orange juice
Dash of Fee Brothers Aztec chocolate bitters (alcohol free bitters)
3 mint leaves
Shake all ingredients together in a shaker tin with ice, then strain into your mojito glass of choice. Top with sparkling water. Garnish with a handful of Pom seeds stirred into the glass. Pro tip: if there’s a lot of ice, it’ll have a nice layered look.
